ALBANY – Three senior executives representing business incubators in diverse regions of New York State were elected to the board of directors of the Business Incubator Association of New York State at the association’s 2010 annual meeting, held this year on June 11th at the Brooklyn campus of the Polytechnic Institute of NYU.

The new members of the association’s nine-person board are (alphabetically by organization name):

• James Senall, president of High Tech Rochester (HTR). An affiliate of the University of Rochester, HTR owns and operates the 50,000 square-foot Lennox Tech Enterprise Center and manages the 40,000 square-foot Rochester BioVenture Center incubator.

• Sara Garretson, president of the Industrial + Technology Assistance Corp. (ITAC) in New York City. ITAC operates a “virtual” business-incubation program that assists startup and early-stage companies but does not provide a physical facility.

• Robert Herz, director of the South Side Innovation Center (SSIC) in Syracuse. SSIC is a 14,000 square-foot microenterprise business incubator operated by the Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship at the Whitman School of Management of Syracuse University.

Both HTR and ITAC serve high-technology and manufacturing companies through arrangements with the state agency NYSTAR and the federal agency NIST, respectively.

The Business Incubator Association has 35 members of diverse organizational type operating more than 40 facilities or virtual programs statewide.
