Hutch Hutchison, NYMEP Manager of New Product DevelopmentHutch Hutchison comes to MEP with over 30 years of high technology engineering management experience, having built and led cross-functional development and operations teams in diverse environments as research, engineering, and manufacturing, in disciplines of optics, lasers, electronics and mechanics.
Hutch spent over 16 years at the Laboratory for Laser Energetics, University of Rochester, a facility engaged in Inertial Confinement Fusion research. Hutch created and managed laser and experimental operations, directed engineering, and directed complex, multi-million dollar projects ranging from infrared-to-ultraviolet frequency conversion on the 24-beam Omega laser to the 60-beam Omega Upgrade project, which is still operating in 2011.
Leveraging his considerable technology leadership background , Hutch has started operations in a variety of optics-based corporations, built, and re-built engineering and operations teams, and brought numerous new product development projects to fruition. Hutch has been inventor and co-inventor on 7 patents, all on complex electro-opto-mechanical systems.
Hutch has been in Director, VP or C-level positions in 5 corporations, and is CEO of his own, small business in color metrology.
Hutch has the MBA from the William E. Simon Graduate School of Business Administration, University of Rochester, and Electrical Engineering degrees from RIT and Penn State Universities.
Hutch brings his significant product development project experience to fruition in his new role at HTR-MEP, where he is developing the service for Virtual Design and Prototyping , for practice in all 10 New York MEP Centers, and ultimately the US.
