Client Admission Process

HTR's New Venture Admissions process is a rigorous but effective way for entrepreneurs and HTR advisors to begin a strong relationship as business partners.

The process begins when you contact HTR via phone, e-mail, or simply walk in. While we will always do our best to accomodate a walk-in visit, we do strongly encourage you to call or write in advance to schedule a site visit, tour, and conversation with one of our Entrepreneurs-in-Residence. Please email Terry Gronwall, Entrepreneur-in-Residence, or call him at 585-214-0592 to begin the conversation and start to explore whether HTR-TEC is appropriate for your business, and to schedule an incubator visit.

In the initial phone conversation, we will be happy to answer all your initial questions and invite you for a site tour and visit, in addition to an Introductory Meeting with Terry Gronwall and one other EIR if appropriate.

At this initial meeting, we will ask you to give us a verbal description of your business (including industry, target market, competition, etc.) and describe which sorts of assistance you seek. We will then describe HTR's Business-Building Services in the context of your firm, and give you a tour of Lennox TEC. If you have one prepared, bringing a copy of your business plan is very helpful.

Starting with the initial phone conversation(s) and in-person meeting, when we believe there is a good fit with HTR's mission and we feel that we will be able to assist you in meeting your business goals we will invite you to complete a Lennox TEC Resident Client Application. This application will then be carefully evaluated by our admissions committee, and your business will be reviewed for its growth potential, local impact, technology position, competitive advantage, and more.

If the New Ventures admissions committee is impressed with your Client application and your business, the process will advance. Assuming there is appropriate office space available at TEC, we will present you with a formal Resident Client office space proposal. If appropriate space is not currently available, you will be placed on our preferred waiting list and you will be notified in advance of upcoming space vacancies that may serve your needs.

Once you take up residency at Lennox TEC, HTR's New Ventures staff will do an initial "needs assessment" review to determine how to best structure our Business Building services to assist you. Once this roadmap has been completed, we will then formally begin the Structured Business Development Process with you and integrate you into the TEC community and programs.
