Rick Berger

Richard Berger is a Director with NextPoint, LLC a professional business-consulting group. NextPoint consists of 15 consultants all of whom have had extensive “hands on” experience in operating or owning their own businesses. Each specializes in specific areas of business expertise and assist businesses from early “start up” companies to “exit planning” and everything in between. Mr. Berger’s specialty is taking businesses to the next level of successful growth and profitability.  This includes business, market and team analysis, results orientated goal setting, team alignment, and proven monitoring and tracking systems that keep the team focused for success. For the last two years, Mr. Berger has been focused on helping start-up, early stage and high tech companies to grow and prosper. 

Prior to joining NextPoint, Mr. Berger was the President, Co-Founder, and member of the Board of Directors of NanoDynamics, Inc. a leading manufacturer of superior nanomaterials and Solid Oxide Fuel Cells. Mr. Berger is an experienced sales, marketing and manufacturing executive who has served as the CEO & President of a wide range of highly diversified corporations during his 37 years of managerial experience. His background includes senior executive management positions in start up organizations as well as major corporations. Mr. Berger has strong customer and supplier relationships around the globe, including Europe, China, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia. 
 
Mr. Berger’s executive experience includes managing the operations of companies ranging from advanced materials to the largest Coca Cola Bottling Company in the world. He brings significant experience in managing start-up and early stage companies, turn-around situations, as well as mature manufacturing & service companies.
 
Mr. Berger joined NanoDynamics after serving as President & CEO of Speedline Technologies; a global company that designs, manufacturers, markets and sells sophisticated capital equipment to the electronics assembly and semiconductor packaging markets. Speedline employed over 1,800 people worldwide with offices in Frankfurt, Germany. Reading, England, Paris France, Milan, Italy and numerous countries throughout Asia including Singapore, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Malaysia, and Japan. During his tenure, Mr. Berger oversaw Speedline’s sales growth from $280 million to $500 million in a 3 year period, setting corporate records for productivity, profitability, and cash flow during that rapid growth.
 
Mr. Berger’s business experience also includes: President, CEO and Director of EOTech, Inc., (manufacturer of electro-optical devices); President & CEO of TAM Ceramics (a $90MM global manufacturer of high-tech ceramic materials for the electronics industry); President & CEO of Spaulding Composites Technologies (manufacturer of thermoplastics & thermoset materials, composites and component parts). Prior to that, Mr. Berger was President of Mykro Myclex (manufacturer of ceramic glass bonded mica materials, composites and parts); President of Filawound Technologies (manufacturer of filament winding and resin molding composites and parts) and President of Spaulding Fabrication (designer and fabricator of over 4,000 products) Mr. Berger was also Executive Vice President & COO of Advanced Refractory Technologies, Inc. (manufacturer of high performance materials, including ceramics, composites and advanced coatings) and Vice President of Operations & Procurement at JTL Corporation Corporate Offices - a $2 billion Coca-Cola Bottling manufacturing and Sales Corporation of Coca-Cola Products.
 
Mr. Berger has also served as President and Director of The InVentures Group, Inc. He is a member of the Board of Directors of First Wave Technologies, Inc.; the Pacific Industrial Development Corporation; the Buffalo and Erie County Public Libraries System (52 County libraries), RiverKeepers and the Westminster Economic Development Initiative. Mr. Berger holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Bowling Green State University.
