Mark CornettMark Cornett began his career with the Hewlett-Packard Company as a sales and marketing professional for the company’s computer systems division. As an HP sales person, he placed information management solutions into a variety of application areas, including factory automation, inventory / production control (MRP), and computer-aided-design. As a manager for HP, Mr. Cornett oversaw the recruitment, staffing, training and development of a 100 person field sales organization with territory responsibility throughout New England.
After ten years with HP, Mr. Cornett embarked on his second career, that of college instruction and academic program management. With his alma mater, Clarkson University, he instructed in the areas of sales and marketing, entrepreneurship and small business management, and operations and production management. In addition to his instructional responsibilities, Mr. Cornett separately managed two academic programs for the University … the undergraduate Engineering and Management program and the graduate M.B.A. program. It was also during his time at Clarkson University that Mr. Cornett consulted with many small and startup organizations, and generally furthered his interest in new venture creation.
After more than a decade in academia, Mr. Cornett began his own new venture experience as president and general manager of Fused Solutions, Inc., a newly formed business process outsourcing (BPO) company in Potsdam, NY. Over the past ten years Mr. Cornett has guided the company’s growth and development, including a spin-out of a technology-based subsidiary. Named SpiceCSM, the subsidiary received $1M in first round venture funding for the further development and growth of its BPO agent optimization platform, delivered on a SaaS basis (software-as-a-service).
In addition to the above career experiences, Mr. Cornett holds a U.S. patent, is on multiple organizational boards, and is author to a text on new venture creation.
Mr. Cornett received a B.S. in Engineering and Management from Clarkson University (Potsdam, NY), and his M.B.A. from Northeastern University (Boston, MA).
