Chris HaunChris Haun is a senior level energy expert who has collaborated on award winning initiatives within both the private and public sectors. Through his work at a state utility regulatory agency, a consultant, two clean tech startups and a New York City utility Chris has expanded businesses and initiated simple, cost-effective, sustainable programs and policies. Chris has versatile technical and financial skills as well as a strong planning and operations background.
At the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities Chris helped develop policies to cut peak energy use, expand the use of renewable energy, evaluate transmission projects and create Smart Grid programs. Chris served on the Electric Power Research Institute’s Smart Grid / Energy Efficiency Advisory Group, the Smart Grid Roundtable and the US Department of Energy-National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners Electricity Forum.
As a consultant Chris has managed multiple, complex financing deals for energy efficient construction projects for an award winning NYSERDA program, helped develop a sustainability program for a leading public utility and provided business development and financial advice to numerous small businesses. Chris has also pursued his passion for green energy as the Chief Operating Officer for a solar cell manufacturer and as a Product Manager for a fuel cell maker. Chris began his career at Brooklyn Union Gas (now National Grid) where he led numerous construction projects, directed a local development fund that won a prestigious corporate social responsibility award, established the company’s foundation and provided strategic direction to senior management.
Chris is a licensed Professional Engineer from Cornell University and a LEED certified professional with a Masters in Public Administration from New York University. Chris is a member of the NY Association of Energy Engineers, The New York Academy of Sciences, and is a past Board member of the New York Conservation Education Fund and the Brooklyn Center for the Urban Environment. Chris’s teaching experiences vary from professional ski instructing to lecturing graduate level courses at New York University. A creative, analytical problem-solver and an inspiring mentor, Chris is always looking for a challenge and to give a helping hand.
